The wellness benefit of mushroom beta glucan have been known about for a long time now but only really for humans. The benefits of supplements that contain this extract on the well-being of our cat is a relatively new concept but one that appears to be growing quickly to many cat owners.

Over the past couple of decades, medical researchers have found many positive benefits of mushrooms including leading to a longer life, better quality of life as well as to boost a weakened immune system. It was not until the early 1990’s that a research lab managed to extract an effective compound from these mushrooms known by the name of mushroom beta glucan extracts and used them in supplements for both humans, farm animals and pets that result in a healthier way of life.

Now you understand a little bit of the history and background of mushroom beta glucan, it is time to take a closer look as to why natural cat supplements with mushroom beta glucan will prove beneficial for your cat.

Scientific studies have shown that the use of mushroom beta glucan extract as a natural cat supplements diet can help boost the immune system; something necessary when our cats has suffered from illness at the hands of a weakened immune system. Aside from this excellent positive benefit, mushroom beta glucan has also been shown to possess a terrific effect on cancerous tumors and even shrink the size and severity of the tumor. This was proven on mice that was given the supplement and also the tumors themselves within the research had the cells blocked to keep them from getting any larger or spreading any further. It is thought that the use of mushroom beta glucan extract products help to boost the healthy cells inside the body; the ones that fight infection and other bad cells that invade it.

There are many reported benefits to the use of mushroom beta glucan extracts for your cat, however when you look at the two most imporant factor of all advantages – boosting immune system and preventing cancerous cells; you shouldn’t need a better reason to provide the best cat supplements with mushroom beta glucan extract to our loved cat!

Fleas and ticks may be rather tiny, but that does not mean that they do not pose a threat to your cat. Tapeworms can travel in a flea’s bloodstream and their incessant drawing of blood can cause anemia, a condition especially dangerous to kittens. Ticks have become synonymous with Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. If left unchecked, these small insects become problematic, and it is therefore important to keep your cat free from ticks and fleas.

As the old adage goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and it applies to this situation quite nicely. Tall grass and deep brush are breeding grounds for ticks and fleas, so cut down this growth around your property. Cats like to roam, so the less overgrowth they encounter, the better. If you have a larger yard, a fence can be effective at keeping your cat from venturing off of your property and getting into vegetation that is rife with ticks and fleas.

Thanks to medical advancements, there are several spot on treatments that can be applied to your pet that have been shown to kill 98% to even 100% of the ticks and fleas that your cat comes across. These spot on treatments are liquids that are applied between the shoulders of your cat once a month. As long as you remember to apply the medication monthly, you stand a strong chance of stopping an infestation before it starts. Just mark your calendar or set a reminder on your cell phone. Flea collars are also helpful but have limited efficacy when used alone; however, when employed in conjunction with spot on treatments, they add a nice extra layer of protection.

Unfortunately, fleas and ticks sometimes make it past your best defenses and not only infest your cat, but make their way into the home as well. Your cat will not be happy, but a warm bath featuring a good, medicated shampoo scrubbing is one of the best ways to kill fleas and ticks that have taken up residence on him or her. Dips and sprays are also effective, and may be used to kill fleas and ticks that have infested the carpet and bedding too.

As long as you are dedicated and employ preventive measures, you can keep ticks and fleas off of your cat. Try to keep him or her out of dense thickets and apply liquid treatments once a month. Following some easy steps can solve a difficult problem.

Now Try – Frontline For Cats

Got Cats?

Are you a cat person? We’ve got three dogs, but no cats. It’s not because we don’t like cats, it’s just that my wife and I both are allergic to cat dander. Our son, however, has two cats; one that stays indoors and the other is both an indoor and outdoor cat. What both of these felines have in common is that they are very destructive. Since both he and his wifeare gone most of the day, they have gotten used to coming home to what I have named “shredded house”. They just positively dread it when there’s rain in the forecast because they know that the cats will get bored and mischief will abound.

Mouse Chaser Fun

So when I took a look at this Mouse Chaser on an As Seen On TV spot, I knew I had to order it for them. It’s a good deal, too…a “Buy One Get One Free” offer. So, for about $34 total (including shipping), two of these electronic cat entertainment gizmos showed up on my door step along with two free red beam laser cat toys.

The Mouse Chaser is a neat device that will not only keep your cat entertained for hours, but you will also enjoy watching kitty try to catch the “mouse”. This battery powered toy is activated by your cat’s movement. When it senses movement, a small “mouse” begins to run around its path inside an enclosed plastic bowl with strategic openings in the top and side. Your kitty sees the mouse running round and round, and tries tocatch it…over and over again! When the cat stops moving the mouse stops running, so your battery life is extended.

Cats Enjoy the Mouse Chaser

Cats don’t miss much of what’s going on around them. When we first powered the Mouse Chaser up and put it on the floor, the cat acted like it didn’t see it. But, it couldn’t ignore the red LED beam for long and soon the mouse was running its laps in the Chaser. The cat leaped at the Mouse Chaser, and tried every which way to grab the mouse through the openings to no avail. He would try to capture the mouse for awhile, then walk away and stare at the Mouse Chaser. Then, he’d sneak back up on it, the mouse would take off, and the cycle would begin all over again. Very entertaining for both him and us!

If you’ve got cats, this is a neat toy that may keep them occupied and happy while you’re not at home. While my son’s cats still sometimes scratch where they’re not supposed to, the Mouse Chaser has definitely helped to keep them out of mischief while he’s gone. It’s as relatively inexpensive item that may prevent the destruction of your home’s furnishings by your favorite kitty!

It’s well known that cats food like to eat. Some nibble a few kibbles at a time, but come back very often to put their noses in their bowl during the day. Others jump on their meal as if they had not eaten for an entire year. And all let you know in their own way when their bowl is empty. So should we worry if our cat sulks its food and stop eating all of a sudden? The answer without any doubt, is yes. Any change in the appetite level of your cat should be a reason for concern. Something is definitely wrong. One old saying goes as: “When the appetite goes well, everything goes well!” I think it applies perfectly well to all the cats in the world. So when the appetite goes well, everything goes well, then, when the appetite changes, it must also mean that something is wrong? Yes, but what then?

ASK YOURSELF THOSE QUESTIONS
Have you changed the food trademark?
Yep! Many cats are very demanding and have very specific food preferences. They prefer a type of food, a trademark or a brand of a specific commerce and do not want anything else. Cats develop their food preferences at a young age and that often dictates their future food taste, texture, color of the kibble and the ingredients of the recipe can all be factors of preference and requirements of cats. For example, if your cat is used to eating a triangular shape dry green kibble, with a thickness of three millimeters since its very young age, he could sulk his food if you give him a dry star-shape red kibble with a thickness of two millimeters.
Is the food really fresh and well preserved?

Was the can left too long on the store shelf? Is the food slightly “desiccated?” Has the can been opened for several days and the food less appetizing for your cat, even if its been left inside the refrigerator? Could it be that the bag of kibbles is poorly preserved and that its mixture is slightly rancid? You might not be aware of it, but your cat nose is very refined with an acute sense of smell. It may very well go on a hunger strike if the smell of the food does not please him. Indeed, the cat food bags which are too large and that last too long, even the cat food bags that were not closed properly after used can end up slightly rancid and may cause your cat to refuse its food.
Buy a new bag, but keep it the same usual food?
Sometimes the food manufacturer change its recipe to improve the look and taste, for example. Unfortunately, some cats may simply refuse the new recipe. This has happened before in the history of some animal feed companies. More rarely, it could also be due to a manufacturing defect, improper storage or because a bag has an expired date. Cat food have expiry dates the same as for all other food products.

IF NONE OF THIS CAN EXPLAIN THE ANOREXIA OF YOUR CAT, CONSULT YOUR VETERINARIAN, BECAUSE:
1. Your cat may be sick or in pain.
The most common cause of a feline anorexia is a disease. However whatever the cause! Anorexia is often the first apparent sign that your cat does not feel well. Any health reason could be the cause of a cat refusing to eat. It’s always listed as one of the first symptom in all diseases felines: nasal congestion, toothache, abscesses, infections of all kinds, renal disease, digestive diseases, cancer etc.

2. Your cat may be anxious or sensitive.
Believe it or not, cats are small beings who are sometime fragile and sensitive on the emotive level. Could you imagine, that cats are quite able to stop eating for purely psychological reasons. Any significant change in life or the environment can stress a cat, hit its sensitive nerves and trigger psychogenic anorexia: a move, the arrival of a new animal or a child, a divorce, the departure of a family member, a new boyfriend, lack of affection and presence, etc. Thus, veterinarians also play the famous role of psychologist for the animal well-being of their client and especially for that of his or her animal.
INFO-GUIDANCE
* You must be concerned and promptly consult a veterinarian if your cat goes on a hunger strike for no apparent reasons. But even more important if the cat in question is overweight. Why? Because these cats can quickly develop a serious liver problem, hepatic lipidosis when they stop eating, even if only for a few days. As this disease can be fatal and difficult to treat, it is better to prevent than cure.

* You should also be concerned about the health of your cat if its appetite appetite increases abruptly or gradually. Diseases such as diabetes and hyperthyroidism can cause increased in appetite. Thus, any change in the appetite of your cat, downward or upward, is enough of a reason to consult your veterinarian doctor.

Hyperthyroidism is a condition characterized by increased levels of thyroid hormones. This condition can affect various parts of the body including the heart and gastrointestinal tract. Feline hyperthyroidism usually affects middle-aged to older cats. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about feline hyperthyroidism.

Cause

This condition causes increased thyroid hormone circulation. This normally occurs because the gland has been affected by cancerous cells. Older cats normally develop this condition.

Signs

As mentioned earlier, various systems in the body can be affected. Most cats experience a wide range of symptoms. Some of the most common include increase appetite, increase activity levels, weight loss, and increased thirst and urination.

The gastrointestinal tract can also be affected. This leads to diarrhea and vomiting. If the heart is affected, felines experience increased heart rate, arrhythmias, and heart failure.

Diagnosis

Various other diseases can mimic the signs of feline hyperthyroidism. Kidney disease, liver disease, and diabetes are three of the most common. A blood panel and thyroid test will help determine if hyperthyroidism is the cause.

Treatment

This condition can be treated using various methods. One method of treatment is a daily pill. Removal of the thyroid gland is also an option. However, thyroid tissue may be left in other areas of the body and may not treat the condition successfully.

Irradiated iodine is the final method to treat this disease. The iodine course is the most successful since it removes all the thyroid tissue in the body. However, it is the most expensive.

It is best that you learn all you can about feline diseases. In case your cat does fall ill, knowing about these different conditions will help you recognize it quickly. So, head over to common-cat-diseases.com today to learn about some of these conditions.

Cystitis in cats affects the bladder. Your cat’s urine will develop tiny crystals in it and may also become bloody. This painful condition may result in your pet urinating in places he normally doesn’t. Keep reading this article to learn all you need to know regarding cat cystitis.

Cause

Veterinarians don’t exactly know what causes this condition in felines. Certain infections such as the herpes virus may be the cause in some felines.

Symptoms

It’s common for felines with cystitis to have a difficult time urinating. The urine will develop tiny crystals and may also become bloody. It’s also difficult for cats with this condition to urinate.

Treatment

It is vitally important to note that a large amount of crystals in the urine can cause a blockage in the urethra. Male cats normally develop these blockages since their urethras are smallers. A blockage will prevent elimination of toxins which will be fatal in a matter of two days.

You will need to decrease your cat’s mineral intake and increase his fluid intake. These changes will help dissolve crystals in the urine. A catheter will need to be inserted if a blockage occurs. You will also need to limit the amount of stress your cat endures.

As an owner, it is best that you learn all you can about common cat diseases. Learning about these conditions will help you get your cat treated quickly in case he does fall ill. To learn about a range of diseases, head on over to common-cat-diseases.com today.

FCV is another name for feline calicivirus. Cats that are affected by this virus will experience mild flu-like symptoms which rarely cause serious problems. Owners usually vaccinate their cats for this disease. Here is everything you need to know regarding cat calicivirus.

Cause

Calicivirus in felines is caused by a virus spread through contact with eye discharge, nose discharge, and saliva. Cats are also at risk of developing the condition if they come into contact with infected feces. The virus can be spread from cats even if they show no sign of disease themselves.

Signs

Different strains can lead to this disease, so cat calicivirus can produce various symptoms. Some of the most common include discharge from the nose and eyes. Fever, loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, and pneumonia are other common signs. Some cats even develop sores in their mouth or on their paws.

Diagnosis

Upper respiratory infections cause some of the same signs as calicivirus. The vet will have to review his symptoms and his medical history. Lab tests can also determine if your cat is infected with the virus.

Treatment

Like many viral infections, this condition will need to run its course. It’s vital that you provide your cat with fresh foods and water. It’s important to provide soft foods if there are sores in the mouth. You will also need to clean discharge away from the eyes and nose.

Did you know that homemade cat food proved to be healthier than so many commercial cat foods? Even cat foods which are made from raw meat are very easy to make. Cats will also love the food from raw meat, because cats are basically carnivores. Feline needs meat much higher than the dog.

Making food for cats can be said to be easier than making food for dogs. Cats eat almost every kind of meat given to them. In some cats, they are also going to like vegetables that given to them. But it should be noted, by providing a mixture of vegetables in the cat food, and then it will take more time to creating homemade cat food

For this homemade cat food, it is assumed that you already have pieces of meat in the fridges that are ready to be processed. Do the following when you feed the cat.

1.	Remove the meat chunk from the fridge at least 1 hour before use.
2.	Set aside meat for 1 hour to remove the chill. If you do not have time for one hour to wait for meat is not frozen, you can put it in a special plastic food, and soaking in water
3.	Advantage by allowing the meat to be processed beyond one hour before is, your cat can smell it first, and then cause hunger on them. And when the food was served, they will eat with voracious.
4.	Number of pieces of meat that you need depends on how many cats you have, and how much their eat servings.
5.	You can add vegetables to the meat chunks, because some cats will eat vegetables that were given to them. If you afraid that they are do not eat it, you can mince the meat along with vegetables, so they’ll eat it together.
6.	I f you have more than a cat, and tolerating each different in vegetables, you can distinguish which cats bowl will be given with vegetables, and which does not.
7.	Add supplements into chunks of meat. While there are many pet supplements, the most important is calcium supplements for cat.
8.	Cats have the ability to chew food very well. Cats will chew pieces of meat with their teeth down to the size that they were able to swallow. So no problem for these meat chunks can go into their mouths, they will chew until soft. However, helping your cat in a reasonable size of meat chunks will allow a cat to eat faster
9.	Do not treat a cat like a human baby by cutting the meat into very small size. Besides wasting your time, your cat actually has the ability to swallow and chew properly. Give the meat chunks in a reasonable size

As an alternative plan, you can always leave a supply of dry food for your pet. When you give your cat dry food, you should always make sure it has enough water. When you buy dry food, you should still check with their health and benefits, and stay away from generic food. Even though generic food may be cheaper, it can not provide the nutrients your pet needs. If you own a kitten, you should only give you kitten food designed for him. You also need to clean and refill his bowl of water every day. Even though kittens and adult cat’s cow’s milk, you should not give them because it can cause diarrhea. Treats are good sometimes, but too many of them can cause your pet to get fat. Feeding your kitten food of man is good, sometimes, although you might need to mix with his food for cats.

They, cats stay fairly clean. Even if you do not need to bathe them often, you must give them a brushing at least once a day. Brush reduces the risk of hairballs and keeps the cat fur clean. If you keep a cat inside, you have a sandbox area that has easy access to the cat. You should always scoop it daily and clean it once a week. Cats do not use dirty litter boxes, they want to be clean.

Although cats need some work, they are great pets that provide years of companionship. As long as you take care of your cat and take him to the vet for his check-ups, should remain in good health.
