Vegetables are not always in the top of the list of the ideal diet for your bearded dragon. He is ready to eat insects and worms, but may be wary of vegetables at first. The bearded dragon enjoys being hand fed, which can be the first step in teaching your bearded dragon to eat vegetables. The bearded dragon may take some time to learn to eat vegetables, but there are several steps you can take to encourage the bearded dragon to eat vegetables.

There are several ways to promote your bearded dragon to eat vegetables. Many have suggested the Leafs hanging high in a bearded dragon organized. In this way you can pull out pieces of green. Greens can also be placed in a shallow dish so that you can see the bearded dragon. If a young bearded dragons can be seen in their food, usually does not eat it. The addition of crickets and greens also encourage the bearded dragon to eat vegetables, because they stick to cricket, they capture some of the green as well. Eventually, they learn to eat vegetables. Arrest of crickets for a few days will also encourage the bearded dragons to eat vegetables, because this is their sole source of nutrition.

Misting the greens will also encourage the bearded dragon to eat their greens. The bearded dragon is attracted to the greens because the misting brings the greens to their attention. They will also be tempted to eat by moisture.

Baby and juvenile bearded dragons have a hard time to eating what they can’t see. A flat jar lid will help them see the greens and they will be tempted to try them. Piling the greens up will also encourage them to eat the greens. Babies and juvenile bearded dragons do not generally eat a lot of greens and their diet consists mostly of crickets. They will learn slowly to eat the veggies.
Feeding mealworms in the greens and on a salad will also make the bearded dragons accidentally eat the salad. Slowly the salad will also begin to disappear. Cutting pieces of yellow squash into strips will make the squash look like mealworms to the bearded dragons. Once they try the first one, the bearded dragons will begin eating them. You can also begin to place those on top of other greens and those will slowly begin to disappear as well.
Bearded dragons are also very visual. They assume that just about everything that moves is food. Many people drop their food from above the bearded dragons in their cage. Dropping small pieces of food from above may encourage the bearded dragons to try the greens as they are falling from above them. They will see the movement of the pieces of food and they will be tempted to eat them. Clipping pieces of greens and placing a fan on them will cause the greens to wave. The bearded dragon will be tempted to eat the moving greens. Soon, they will be pulling pieces off in no time.

For those bearded dragons that are still reluctant at eating their greens, your next option will be to gut load the bearded dragon’s crickets. Feed your bearded dragon’s greens and veggies to the crickets. Feed the gut-loaded crickets to the bearded dragons. They will receive the nutrients from their greens and veggies as their crickets have also eaten the veggies. This is a great way to get baby and juvenile bearded dragons to eat their greens. Babies and juvenile bearded dragons do not generally eat a whole lot of greens and will benefit from the gut-loaded crickets.

Variety is the spice of life for most bearded dragons. Spicing up their veggie diet will also encourage them to eat veggies as well. Colourful plants such as dandelions, hibiscus and other edible flowers and plants will brighten the habitat and the bearded dragons will become more interested in the new things in their cage.

Dusting the veggies in calcium may also make the bearded dragons eat them. They will usually eat other insects with calcium dusted on them and veggies are no different. They will soon eat their veggies because they are dusted in calcium as well.
Fruits and veggies provide the bearded dragon with moisture. They will also receive the necessary nutrients that veggies will provide the bearded dragon. Keep trying to mix things up with dragons that are reluctant to eat veggies on their own.

Hi and thanks for dropping by!

In this article, I just want to review The Ultimate Sugar Glider Care Guide which is a great guide I’ve purchased when I adopted my sugar glider a few weeks ago. I know many sugar gliders die because their owners don’t know the basics of sugar glider care. No need to learn the hard way, you can just start learning how to take care of your sugar glider before making any mistakes. Sounds logical to me though!

So let’s get started! If like me you love these sweet little pets, you’ll be glad to know how to take care of yours whether you already have one or plan on adopting one. They deserve good care!

Sugar gliders are not toys.
Sugar gliders are cute. They definitely are. And, unlike many rodent pets (well, they are not rodents but marsupials!), they enjoy our company and are very social animals. That’s basically why I adopted my sugar glider. (By the way mine is called Stan!). Having one is really fun!

But the thing is, they are pets, not toys, and yes, they can die without proper care. You’re responsible of your pet.

93% of sugar glider owners don’t know anything about sugar glider care. The result is: they often die within 9 months because (lazy?) people don’t take the time to learn how to take care of them.

The good news is, if you learn how to take care of your sugar glider, he can live 10 to 15 years!

Why a guide?
and why this one?
Well. You know, I was reading an article online listing the best tips to take care of a sugar glider and the second tip was: “Do plenty of research on the care and keeping of sugar gliders before you bring one home.” I hope the author won’t mind me posting this here…. I swear it’s what was written. Great advice, huh? lol

Ok, so I told myself that there must be a complete guide, simple and easy to read that could help me take care of my sugar glider and that I could refer to anytime I would need to.

I found it. Yes, it’s really that simple. I personally don’t have time to do “plenty of research”. I prefer having all the advices in one book or ebook and spend that time taking care, cuddling and playing with Stan (my sugar glider)!

Why The Ultimate Sugar Glider Care is essential in my opinion is because sugar gliders are exotic pets and they therefore need specific care. It’s not very hard to take care of a sugar glider but when I say specific I mean that you can make serious mistakes if you don’t know the basics of sugar glider care.

If you are the owner of a Sugar Glider, you may be slowly killing it with the diet you are feeding or the environment you have your pet living in. A lot of pet owners may not want to believe or know this, but the harsh reality is, not knowing the proper care of a Sugar Glider is unfair to the animals health and unfortunately a grown trend in America and Europe.

Over the past few months of researching and finding out all the information on these little animals, I have been shocked by the neglect and improper care of Sugar Gliders. All over the Internet you will come across articles by vets who are treating Gliders for broken bones (due to lack of calcium), malnutrition because of a improper diet, and chronic fatigue and lethargy, with some Gliders hardly able to move, again, all because of lack of knowledge on diet and proper care.

Owners pay a whooping 200-250 dollars or euros each for Sugar Gliders, and it is recommended you buy a pair for the well been of the animals mental health, and then, this will not include the small fortune on the extras such as food, cages, toys, vet bills etc. so taking this all in to account, it baffles the mind why, in the same way you would treat a dog or cat, you would not research and do all that’s in your power to properly care for these cute creatures.

Know Your Pets Needs

The food giving to Sugar Gliders, as I have come across, hot dogs, Mac Donald’s, Coke, Pizza etc. is shocking. With this type of diet, these pets do not last very long, becoming weak and dying. They need a specially prepared diet, that can actually cost less than any junk food you may be giving these Sugar Gliders.

Gliders are exotic animals and difficult to care for, but not impossible. There is a ton of information on the internet, which some of it can be misleading. Do your research, prepare a diet plan for your pet, the same way you would if you lived a healthy lifestyle. Find out more Information on Sugar Glider Diets

Remember, as a pet, you are paying a lot of money first to buy a Glider, then with the accessories been an extra cost, it all adds up to a lot of money and would make a lot of sense to know your pets needs as Gliders are pretty cute, very loving and can make excellent pets when properly cared for.

Grab practical things to know in the sphere of affiliate marketing – make sure to go through this webpage. The times have come when concise info is really only one click of your mouse, use this possibility.

Do you know if the food you feed your pet is the right type for its body. Taking care and knowing your Sugar Gliders diet is very important. There are however, certain types of food you should never feed to a Glider or food you would keep to small amounts.

Foods To Avoid

Sugar Gliders are omnivores and anything you would put in-front of them, they will gladly eat, especially if it is sweet. Remember too, Gliders are tiny so a little bit of food is a lot to them. Also, anything fed in excess to any pet will be harmful. Learn the right way with a step by step Sugar Guide Care Guide.

Avoid dairy products like Ice-cream and cheeses etc. These animals are lactose intolerance but can tolerate a little. Giving a little flavored yogurt now and again is fine because the lactose in yogurt can be easily broken down with the bacteria it contains.
Providing babies a little yogurt on a daily basis is beneficial due to the bacteria and calcium it contains(calcium, very important for their bones.)

Gliders have a very sweet tooth but you should avoid constantly feeding them anything sweet and fatty, as they will more than likely put on weight and become plump, which is not good for any pet. Avoid small pieces of chocolate too as the lumps of chocolate can be fatal.

Vegetables or fruit that are normally treated with pesticides are classified as a high risk food, are very hard to clean and should be avoided. Some berries (raspberries, blackberries etc.) and veg like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower etc. may be full of pesticide and very harmful to the small stomach of this pet.

Gliders love nuts and seeds, but these can be high in fat and low in nutritional value and would be better given as a treat. Consuming to much seeds and nuts will result in your pet getting fat, which can also result in fat deposits building up in their eyes and causing blindness. Some pet stores recommend bird seeds as a food for your glider but do not do this, find the right balanced diet for your pets needs.

Sugar Glider Odor. Does your Glider smell. These animals can be known to smell, yet this is again all down to the diet. Overfeeding, giving people food instead of glider food and an overfeeding of vitamins all contribute to the smell from your pet, especially the urine. Research and introduce the right balanced diet and your pet should smell like a bed of roses.

These are just a few examples of foods and situations that could be affecting the health and well been of your Glider. Find the right balanced diet, do the research and keep your Sugar Glider fit and healthy. Set up a diet plan and mix it up on a regular basis so they can enjoy it better.

Check out important information in the sphere of house train a dog – please make sure to study this web site.

Is your pet ferret losing hair? It could mean one of three things. First it could mean that your ferret is merely having its annual fur shedding. Second, it could be that your ferret pulled its own hair (like in pregnant ferrets), or was caught in a little rough ferret fight. Third, it could be losing hair because it is sick.

Let’s start with the first. Ferrets, like most furry creatures are known to regularly shed their fur. This is their body’s natural way of cleaning fur worn out by constant activity and exposure to the elements. You’ll know that this is the annual fur shedding simply when it grows back on. You’ll find that the fur that grows back on is better and more attractive.

Second, pregnant ferrets have a tendency to be moody. One of the things that they do is they pull their own fur as if to emphasize their discomfort while undergoing pregnancy.

Lastly, when aged ferrets lose hair, it’s not because they are going bald as humans do. It’s most likely because they are affected with adrenal disease. You’ll know when your ferret has adrenal disease not only by observing whether it’s losing hair, but also through several behavioral changes. Usually, ferrets which are afflicted by adrenal disease tend to be more aggressive, lethargic and weak. Male ferrets with adrenal disease experience difficulty in urinating because of the enlargement of their prostate. In adrenal disease, losing hair is the most obvious symptom, it starts from the tail and works its way up to the body. When hair loss is accompanied by the behavioral changes I mentioned above, that could be an indication that your pet ferret has the disease. If you care for your pet ferret, it is best to bring it to the vet before it is too late.

Other diseases that might cause your pet ferret losing hair are allergies and parasitic or bacterial infections. Is your ferret experiencing allergies? Does it have skin parasites? Just like humans and other animals, ferrets tend to scratch a lot when they have allergies or skin parasites. Scratching heavily leads to skin lesions, infections and hair loss. These are just minor skin problems that can be cured by topical medicines.

However, it is important to take note of the ferret’s condition prior to the ferret hair loss. Doing so would demarcate the difference between a full blown disease and a simple allergy. By spending more time with it, you’ll know if there are changes in its temperament, personality and behavior. If for example, Sparky, used to be an active ball of energy running around the house and satiating its curiosity, and then it gradually loses hair accompanied with a seeming lack of energy then that could be an indication of a greater problem than just simple allergies.

In the end, treat ferrets like you would a baby. It’s best to note down your observations in its own journal. If you like, you could even turn that small journal into a full blown diary with pictures of you and your ferret. Doing so, increases the likelihood that you are made aware of any changes that might be significant.

Remember, a ferret losing hair is a ferret that’s undergoing bodily changes. Whether it’s good or bad would be determined by your observation and a vet.

Painted turtles are popular house pets. Most people recognize these turtles from their red and yellow markings, but when asked what do painted turtles eat most people aren’t sure. Turtles are not as widely understood as dogs and cats and this can lead to confusion about feeding.

Turtles are versatile animals for the most part. They can eat a wide variety of foods. There are on certain foods that must be avoided, but more on that later. The first thing to know is that what turtles eat changes as it grows.

Baby Turtles

When the painted turtles are juveniles they tend to be more carnivorous. This is logical as protein is essential for development of strong muscles and early brain development. Packing in excess protein when young is a turtles way of bulking up for their maturity to be more formidable animals.

As the painted turtle reaches full maturity about 60% of its diet consists of vegetation and leafy greens. They will still eat protein as a regular part of their diet, but not nearly as much as when they were younger. As the muscles have become developed, it is now more important to store vitamins and nutrients from vegetation.

Calcium

When captive as house pets turtles will need calcium supplements. Calcium is also an important part of what painted turtles eat as this is what gives them their strong durable shell. Once a turtles shell has weakened to the point of cracking open, its only a matter of time before infection kicks in. This usually leads to premature fatality.

You can buy calcium supplements at the pet store. The best supplement for painted turtles is a powder supplement that you “dust” their food with. Being a house pet your turtle will not have access to deposits, natural vegetation and other calcium sources in the wild. Calcium must be supplemented for the health of the turtle.

There’s the broad overview. What do painted turtles eat? There’s a lot of room for personal preferences. Here’s a list of the most common foods to feed the painted turtle:

Proteins:

-Minnows
-Guppies
-Snails
-Earth worms
-Crickets
-Blood worms
-Shrimp
-Daphnia
-Krill
-Snails
-Tadpoles
-Cooked Beef and Chicken
(small bits)

Fruits and Vegetables:

-Leafy Greens (Mustard, Collard, Dandelion)
-Carrots
-Green Beans
-Squash
-Sweet Potato
-Apples
-Bananas
-Kiwi
-Berries

Turtle Food

Pet stores sell pellet turtle and reptile foods. Most of these are fine to use as a staple for your turtles diet. It doesn’t have to be the largest portion of food they get, just what they are fed in between the vegetables, fruit and protein. You may not have a constant supply of live proteins such as insects. When you run out, these foods will be there to fill in the gaps.

You do not need to feed your turtle all of these different foods in a month! As time goes on, try new things so your turtle has some variety in tastes, textures and for nutrition as well. The above list just gives examples of all the different types of foods that owners feed their painted turtles.

Hard foods, such as carrots should be cooked until soft and easier to digest. It is recommended that baby painted turtles be fed everyday while adults can feed every other day. Do not over feed your turtle as this leads to poor health and a weak immune system.

 Portions

A good rule of thumb on how much to feed your painted turtle is as much as it will eat in fifteen minutes. After a fifteen minute period, if your turtle continues to eat, take away the food (unless it is sick). By that point they have had enough for one meal. Another way to look at this is to feed them a hunk of food that is the roughly the size of its neck and head.

 AVOID THESE

There are a few things to watch out for to avoid feeding your turtle something that will give it health problems. Not everything is alright for a turtle to eat.

Try to avoid feeding your painted turtle spinach. The pesticides and the nutrients in spinach is suspected for a string of intestinal track problems. This led to several turtle fatalities that went unnoticed by the owners. Leafy greens are great turtle snacks, just make sure there is no spinach. Turtles will eat spinach if you put it in front of them.

Also avoid ice berg lettuce. There is very little nutritional value in iceberg lettuce. If you feed this to your turtle it won’t hurt them, but it won’t do them any good. fill their diet with foods that serve a purpose and make their health and condition better. Ice berg lettuce is a waste of tummy space and money.

Finally, a bit of a disclaimer on the above statement about feeding your turtle cooked chicken and beef. This is not an all the time meal. Once in a while this can be done with no side effects and makes a tasty turtle treat. If you constantly feed these things to your turtle it could have adverse effects on their health and their organs. A little dab will do, so offer supermarket meats no more than once a week if at all.

So to answer the question of what do painted turtles eat… a little bit of every thing. Some leafy greens and veggies, some proteins in the form of turtle pellets and/or insects and most fruits. The average adult is fed every other day, and for some every three days depending on the turtles size and age. Mix and match all these foods, but try to provide a balanced diet. Make sure in a week your painted turtle has had some protein, some vegetables and some fruit.

Iguana pets are herbivorous reptiles; but they will eat virtually everything that you offer them; be pizza, meat, sweets…. meals that are bad for the iguana.

His diet must incorporate big diversity of vegetables and fruits; as basil, spinach beet, fig leaves, beetroot, sweet potato, alfalfa, banana, apple etc.

The assortment is the most important thing, treating of they eat every two days something slightly differently. But be aware that the iguana must not eat lettuce, since it contributes very little nutrition wise, and can damage the metabolism.

It is possible to administer balanced food that is specially made for iguanas. The iguana food must be deliver washed, cut, mixed and at ambient temperature. While given them the meal, it is necessary to make sure you cut sliced the food in size that the animal could consume.

The young iguanas can eat insects as crickets, cockroaches, all of them of breeding ground, since those that we find in the houses or in the street they can have residues of poison. Also small mammals (baby rats) of the size adapted according to the animal.

The water must be changed every day. The iguana pets get accustomed to drinking from a receptacle, sufficiently big like to allow that the animal to bathe in it. If the animal is not used to this system there must be provided a system of dripping that drops water on leafs and branches, from where it will drink it.

The correct feeding of your Iguana will make him a happy and healthy pet. The diet of this reptile must be changed and rich in proteins, vitamins and nutrients. Feeding to an iguana is not as simple as it seems, since with so simple things a significant damage can happen to them. For example you cannot give him a big portion of meal, but you her must cut in small portions to facilitate that the animal could digest her easily.

The container of the meal must for ever and a day be full, since they eat in any instant. In every exchange of meal you must clean the container with great safeguard of not using a soap of plates very forcefully since the smell might toxic him. Preserving the insecticides and retired local detergents in which one finds the cage of the pet to be found is exceedingly essential since it can foodstuffs to them a poisoning and cause them the death only with the hum
The ignorance on the part of the owners and the inadequate or scarce information delivered in the pet shops with regard to iguana pets’ care, increase in the risk of presenting related illnesses almost exclusively to a bad handling in these animals.

It is fairly rare for a well cared iguana to get sick; however, accident happens and improper conditions of the iguana enclosure may induce skin injuries.

Skin injuries on iguanas, such as small tumors should not be careless.

Blister disease is a common problem for captive iguanas. It is also known by a few other names such as scale rot, vesicular dermatitis, and necrotic dermatitis. This condition is usually caused by poor care and inappropriate hygiene conditions.

Iguana pets that are forced to live in unsanitary conditions are highly susceptible to blister disease. This is a common problem when the owner fails to apply the proper hygiene to rotting food, feces, and urine in the enclosure.

An irregular change of the skin forms “rings“ of old skin that the blood glasses can compress placed below and to go this way to the necrosis (cellular death). This, plus living in these dirty conditions for a prolonged period, blisters will usually start to develop. These watery blisters will become infected wounds once they burst. This transfers bacteria inside the body which can infect the blood and internal organs. The area around the blisters may also start to rot away. This will make your iguana much more susceptible to secondary bacterial and fungal infections. It is very important that you seek veterinary advice as soon as you notice signs of blister disease. Immature iguanas can die very quickly from this condition. Iguanas suffering from other conditions or stress will likely have a weakened immune system which can make the condition rapidly fatal also.

The wounds can be observed also in adult iguanas of the same sex that they coexist in an iguana enclosure, although it is quite wide. In case of the males, they are a consequence of territorial distributions; in the females, it is observed during zeal.

Also, any type of cutaneous injury has not to of being careless to prevent from being able to become infected or evolve towards widespread forms: dermatitis bacterial, micotics or septicemia.
The first order of treatment involves removing all rotting tissue and skin; followed by aggressive antibiotic treatment. If you catch the disease in its earliest stages, you can soak your iguana in a Betadine solution once or twice each day. It’s also vital that you clean and disinfect the enclosure before you put your iguana back in it. It’s important that you clean your iguana’s habitat on a regular basis. You shouldn’t allow feces and urine to sit around. You should also remove any uneaten food on a daily basis.

Sometimes, iguanas develop an abscess. Abscesses are simply areas of swelling at the site of an infection. This article will tell you everything you need to know about iguana abscesses.

Healthy iguanas normally destroy invading bacteria thanks to a strong immune system. If your iguana has a weakened system because of stress or another reason, bacteria can easily cause an infection. The formation of an abscess may follow this bacterial infection.

You should be able to tell easily if your iguana has an abscess. The area will be noticeably swollen. It’s also common for the area to start oozing a yellowish substance. A crust may also be formed. However, abscesses may be difficult to spot sometimes. They sometimes form deep into skin tissue, so the overlying area may not be affected much.

It’s best that you take your iguana to the vet if you think he has an abscess. If the condition isn’t treated, the invading bacteria will only keep multiplying. This can lead to the formation of internal abscesses. In these cases, treatment is much less successful.

In order to treat the abscess, your iguana will need to have surgery. The vet will cut into the swollen area and clean out all of the material. If all of the material can’t be removed in one session, your iguana may need to undergo multiple surgeries. Your iguana will then need to be given injectable antibiotics.

All owners need to know as much as they can about caring for iguanas. Fortunately for you, green-iguana-care.com provides everything you need. Come by today to learn how to keep a happy and healthy iguana.
